Holiday vacation accommodation for two in the heart of the French countryside. Private south facing terrace, open-fronted loggia with garden furniture and gas barbecue, overlooking the garden. Discover the secrets of the lovely, Thouet river valley in the Poitou Charentes, France.
Follow the river along the ancient St. Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage way. Discover the beautiful Romanesque Churches built to welcome pilgrims along the route. Visit chateaux, gardens, vineyards, medieval towns and villages, colourful markets, festivals and fetes, lost in time. Enjoy a long lunch or evening meal, prepared from superb local produce, in one of the many nearby restaurants or café-bars.
Our large 200 year old village house is set in its own grounds with pretty gardens and orchard in a charming old world village on the River Thouet.
The garden suite, on the ground floor, has two rooms, its own private entrance, terrace, garden and parking. The bedroom has comfortable twin-beds and is en-suite. The living room has comfortable seating, a dining area and kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave.
The suite is furnished and is well equipped with crockery, cutlery, barbecue tools, kettle, coffee-maker, slow-cooker and more. Bed-linen and towels are provided. Under-cover parking is within the grounds. There is a bar in the village. Freshly baked baguettes and croissants are delivered to the garden gate by the local bakery.
The delightful towns of Airvault and St. Loup with their medieval buildings and chateaus are just a few minutes away. Both have all facilities - a variety of shops, supermarkets, banks, doctors, restaurants and bars. We are also only fifteen to twenty minutes drive from Parthenay and Thouars, both impressive walled towns. A comprehensive information pack is supplied for guests.
Centrally placed for visiting the Chateaux of the Loire, Futuroscope, Puy-du-Fou, Poitiers, Niort, La Rochelle and the Atlantic Coast, all great days out.
A variety of activities are possible nearby, some according to the season - painting and drawing, cycling, horse riding, wine tasting, fishing, swimming, sail-boarding - or even hot-air ballooning. Walk or cycle along meandering green lanes and discover a wealth of wildlife and wildflowers away from the main roads. Newly developed for 2008 the Thouet Valley cycleway!
Rental of the garden suite is from 300 Euros to 450 Euros per week for two people sharing. We offer a welcome pack to guests booking for a week, or more, to thank-you for booking with us.
Nearest airports and railway stations are at : Poitiers, Angers, Tours, Nantes, Paris. Car-hire is reasonable - cars can be collected at the airport or railway station.
